It’s a question I get often, and really its never easy to hear we don’t like the song especially after so much work went in to create it!
There are many different variables in play when a song is pitched, many go like this..
- is the tempo right?
- does the vibe fit with the lyric
- is the lyric well crafted and makes sense?
- will the artist/band like this type of song and?or agree with its subject?
- does the label, manager, and political powers at be like this song, or yes maybe some low lifer is probably wanting to steal it
Point is there’s allot going on and yes its better to have a personal relationship with the artist or band your pitching to but unfortunately it can’t always happen.
And sometimes a song is killer, its really great but it’s not the fit for the pitch and its passed. But a great song is a great song is a great song, and will get cut by the right person in time!
